Anxiety
Anxiety rarely announces itself politely. It shows up as a tight chest at 2 a.m., a mind that won't stop rehearsing worst cases, a low hum of dread that colors an ordinary day. The Bible does not treat this as a character flaw to be ashamed of — it speaks to anxious people constantly, and gently. What's striking is that scripture almost never answers worry by promising the circumstance will change. Instead it points, again and again, to presence: I am with you. Come to me. God is with you wherever you go. The antidote it offers is not the removal of the threat but the nearness of God inside it. The verses gathered here don't ask you to simply stop feeling afraid by force of will. They redirect fear toward Someone able to hold it — through prayer that relocates the worry, through a peace that guards the mind before the problem is solved, through an invitation to bring your exhaustion as it is. If anxiety is your companion right now, start with any one of these and sit with it slowly. You are in very old company; these words have steadied frightened people for thousands of years.
Philippians 4:6-7
“In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 on anxiety — how prayer, petition, and thanksgiving lead to a peace that guards the heart.
